I'm an infrequent poster and appreciate all the collective wisdom of this Volvo community. Now that it is getting colder outside my base engine 1998 Volvo S70 with 102K miles is reminding me of an issue that has been getting a little worse each winter. It seems that the gas pedal will get sticky for the first inch or so of play when the car is cold. The car is easy enough to start up and the gas pedal will work fine and then you will be driving down the road and suddenly you will notice that the gas pedal isn't depressing properly and takes way to much effort to depress. This usually happens anytime from 5 minutes after starting all the way until 20 minutes later if it is particularly cold outside. The issue has always resolved itself but it certainly wakes you up when you are headed down the highway or in traffic and you have to fight your gas pedal.
Is it likely deposits on the throttle body? Should I just pull the air filter (which I just replaced with a K&N) and squirt some throttle body cleaner I bought at Walmart? Or do I need to pull things apart and or look at the linkage?
Thanks in advance for any and all shared experiences and advice!
Regards,
Trevor
