what to look for '98 xc70 used purchase V70-XC70

I'm going down to the dealer to kick the tires on a '98 xc70... 129k miles... looks like it's got the the bells and whistles and whatnot... I am concerned with the amount of negative reviews I've found for this model year... any advice on what to ask/look for whould be greatly apreciated!
