I just got my 850 and i have a few questions! 850 1996

I just got a Volvo 850 GLT about a week ago. The car has 106,996 miles on it but the odometer is broken. But what has been confounding me is the switch below the dash light dimmer. I have no idea what that button does and any one who knows would you please let me now??? Also, i wanna know what the sport switch does and what the winter button does. I know what they are for but i want to specifically know what they do to the car when i use them because i dont want to use them not knowing what may happen so for now i have been running the car on economy.
