Timing belt change, further etc. V70-XC70 1997

Hi all. 97 AWD V70 141.230mls
Have just made a 220 mile round trip, the first since the new belt and pulleys,so that(more or less)proves that I put it all back together right.

However:-- I must report that there is an improvement in 'eagerness' between 2300rpm and 3ooorpm. This is quite noticable. Definately the opposite of a flat spot.

At 70mph she wants to romp away up to the illegal 80s and 90s,more so than before. a twenty valve engine (I think) is better suited to an Autobahne culture; but I get by.

Since I fitted the latest Avon tyres (great in the wet) the mpg has dropped from about 30mpg on a trip, to about 27mpg.

On this last trip(since I have done the timing belt)it has risen to 28mpg+! One whole mpg more,or 3.7%.

With fuel at £1.10p per lt, it will only take 31.000mls to recoup the £190.74 cost of the discounted OEM timing belt and Pulleys. The more expensive the petrol the greater the saving WHOO HOO!!!

thought you might all like to know.

Best regards Howard. Isle Of Skye.
