My '98 v70 awd, which I love (even the seats seem to be getting more comfortable), just hit 110,000 miles (we bought it at 53,000). I want to keep the car, and I'm aware that it will need more maintenance as it ages. Of course, I want to avoid major repairs if they can be avoided with a little upkeep. I cannot find info in the owner's manual about drive train/bevel gear maintenance. I hear that Volvo says they don't need to be maintained, but I've read several instances about them failing, a $1000.00+ fix, apparently. Also, I'm wondering about transmission maintenance, timing belts, turbo, etc. Should I increase frequency of oil changes (I use Mobil 1 synthetic every 5-8 k miles)? Thanks, as always!
