So after reading on this great forum for a while, I see more modern Volvos don't have a PVC valve, but instead have something called an oil separator.I looked in my only occasionally useful Chilton manual, no reference to this at all. Where is this oil separator located? Is it a replaceable item, or do you just remove and clean periodically? what kind of mileage interval? Sympotoms of a malfunctioning one? I use only full synthetic oil, changed at 7k intervals, and run the engine rpms up every now and then,seems that doing so helps to prevent a clogged oil separator, based on my reading here. Kudos again to the many helpful people who answer this newbies queries..
