Upper Motor Mount Arrow 850 1996

I replaced the upper and lower fr motor mount on 96 855T last week and the upper one has already torn so that I can see light thru the thin rubber portion of the mold. Could I have installed badly, i.e arrow pointed wrong?? Can someone tell me which way the arrow on the rubber should point when I slip a new one in. [and no, not going to take a chance with ipd poly based on all the dialog on the forums]
