Okay, on my eighth Volvo car, first other than 240 series. My wife wanted a V70 so I found her one that was pristine. 90K tan leather interior. Immaculate.
On the 62 mile drive home with the car, I noticed a popping noise coming from the dash directly in front of the steering wheel. Body stress makes the noise appear. It does not happen on the freeway, only on bumpy roads. I notice that the knee bolster is loose so I was thinking someone had had the dash apart and got something misplaced in there, or maybe all the bolts weren't tightened, etc. If I press down hard on the front of the dash just below the windshield, it doesn't do it but I have to apply a good bit of pressure.
I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this particular problem or could give me some heads up on where to start looking.
*edit* forgot to say it is 1999 model V70.
