Hello Folks,
I've just picked up a 1998 V70 AWD.
When turning tight circles at low speeds, I have a really nasty shake and rumble. At first I thought it was in the back end of the car, but now I feel like it's directly below the center console.
I can also feel it a little when I'm braking, but it's barely detectable.
I'm suspicious of the center driveshaft support bearing and it's holder/bushing. When I am under the car and I 'shake' the drive shaft, it makes a sound identical to what I'm hearing in the cabin.
Question:
Am I likely diagnosing this correctly? Is the center support bearing to blame for the noise and shaking?
The driveshaft support assembly/bearing/holder/bushing seems to be nearly identical to the center support bearing I had in my old '86 760. Is it the same?
Where can I get this thing if it does need to be replaced? I can't seem to find it on IPD/FCPGroton/anywhere....
Does this symptom point to something else acting incorrectly?
- Trans sending too much power to rear?
- Torque converter locking up?
- I've heard rumblings about the viscous coupling going bad - could this be a symptom? Any way to check?
Anything else I should be looking for?
