Update on 850 misfire problem

talked to the owner in more depth about the touble with this 95 850 im considering, apparantly the owner before him blew the heater core hose and apparantly immediatly stopped driving it, and said it did not overheat, the current owner was driving on the highway and while pulling on, it started to sputter and misfire seriously, so he had the top end of the enging rebuilt, just the head, and didnt really solve the problem, so he had another mechanic do a pressure check on it and his conclusion is that it needs new piston rings, so what im wondering is: is there the possibility that the engine block is severly damaged?? if it was warped the guy wo rebuilt the head wouldnt of been able to put on a new head gasket properly, right?? and also if it needs new rings sould i just pick up a rebuilt motor just for the sake of saving me tons of work and just swap it out?? but other than that the car is cosmeticly in pretty darn good shape and will be CHEAP but is it worth all that work???
