Just bought a 2001 V70 T5. It had 106000 miles on it. Found the dealer that serviced it and the timing belt had not been changed. Today, put a belt on it and it was the first time I have had to crawl under and over it to see what all I need to do since we got it. This is my fist turbo, so need to learn all about them. I found what seems to be a leak at intake cam seal. Could not get a good look at the exhaust cam seal, but it did look dry. (the belt I took off was a Volvo OEM, it looked like it had 10K to me, not 106K, was suprised. Expeceted to see it looking much worse)
There was oil on the air intake side of the turbo. Not dripping, but about as wet as it could be without dripping. What is the cause?
Should I check the PVC/vacuum lines? Could this be the cause of the leaks? Is there something else I should check that would improve the crankcase vacuum?
Once I get familure with the car and find all the needed repairs, I plan to tear into it over Christmas and go back and do the timing belt again, tensioner, water pump, cam seal. I don't like oil leaks. My '96 850 with 320,000 on it has a dry engine. Only the rack has a slight weep. The 01 leaves a drop or two on the garage every couple of days.
Have been searching the post to gather some info and plan to check the PVC and vacuum lines.
The car and engine are extreamly clean! The ride and comfort are greatly improved over the 850 wagon. The T5 seats are excellent!
Thanks in advance for all the great advice and God bless.
Thanks, Keith
