Lurching around 2-3000 rpms S60

Hi. I have a 2004 S60 2.5T that I really like. Its an automatic with 34,000 miles on it. From time to time the car kind of lurches between 2000-3000 rpm. It's as if the turbo spools and kicks in but there is this loss and then sudden gain of power. Annoying. Does anybody else experience this? I've taken it in to be serviced and they cleaned out the throttle body and did "software" upgrades. Didn't make a difference though. Any ideas?
