Both door stops on our '96 850 T Wagon failed to hold the door open a few years ago, with no dire consequences (no creaking and crunching), until last summer suddenly the passenger door would open only about twenty degrees. With continued forced use it opens about 30 degrees now. The stop strap seems to be hung up in door, and it is questionable whether I can even get the panel off the door. Can't find the issue on the Forum. Any suggestions? I tried moving the strap with needle-nose Vice Grips, to no effect. I am thinking of cutting the stop-strap with a Sawzall or torch (if I ever get the tanks filled), then taking the door off and replacing the stop strap. But both of these approaches will be quite difficult in the cramped space of a partially open door. Anyone ever have this problem?
