Oil Consumption- 2 quarts in 4,000 miles 850 96

I have a 96 850 GLT just shy of 105K. Lately the car has been using a ton of oil between oil changes. about a quart and a half every 3,000 miles. I notice no leaks (engine bay is dry), no blue smoke out the exhaust, and no oil in the coolant. Anybody else experiencing this and know what the cause is? The car runs fine, with no loss of power or hesitation. There is no valve tapping/noise. I'm perplexed how a car can use this much oil without determining a obvious cause.
