Can I open trunk latch? 850

I took off the black plastic trunk handle piece that also holds the license plate lights so I didn't have to tape them for painting. The problem is that the trunk got closed by mistake and there is no handle to re-open it. Even from the inside of the trunk nothing seems to work. How can I get the trunk back open so I can put the handle and plate lights back on?
