Hi sports fans. 1996 850T. 180k.mi Recent alternators (3) 1 new ignition switch, 1 new starter in last 20k mi. Here is the issue. Car starts, drives, runs fine, and then suddenly all or most of the dashboard lights will come on, and you have a max period of about 5 minutes until you are stuck at roadside with a dead battery. Often this can be as little as 2 minutes. This has happened 6 times now within the last 1.2 years, and I'm running out of ideas. We have taken to getting it towed to the nearest national auto chain available, getting another battery, then driving it home. Get home and check the voltage with the engine not running, it shows about 12.77VDC. Start the car, and with all accessories possible running, voltage is at about 13.8 or above! So, my question: Has any one else out there with an 850 had this kind of a gremlin invade their car? Is it time to pull the alternator (again!) or load test it in the vehicle? I'm at wit's end, and the owner is ready to turn the car in and get a _----- or equivalent, anything that won't leave us stranded. Could it be an intermittent in the wiring harness somewhere, and is there a good place to start the search? Thanks in advance..
