mysterious loss of power and stalling 850 1996

I'm really annoyed with my 1996 850 T5 (70K miles). Intermittantly, I will be at cruising speeds on the highway (maybe 2500 rpms) and I just loose power and sometimes stall. If I notice it right away and stomp the gas it goes away. Otherwise the car runs perfect.

I bought a OBDII scanner and was able to pull zero codes.

Anybody encounter this mysterious stalling? The only thing I have not changed recently is the fuel filter. Could that be the problem? What else could it be?
