Reviewing the instructions for changing a timing belt in the Haynes
Manual and on the Bay 13 web page I notice that Bay 13 gives detailed
instructions on how to remove and compress the hydraulic tensioner.
Haynes makes no mention of this procedure. The Haynes manual
describes how to use a 6mm allen wrench to release the tensioner
when removing and replacing the belt.
Which directions are correct for my car (1999 S70 )?
Our S70 has 66k miles on it. I had assumed that I could wait until
105k before replacing the timing belt, but the recent thread here
has convinced me to err on the side of caution and replace the belt
at 70k.
