We just purchased a '97 850 T-5 wagon early last week, and my mother-in-law took two rides with us for the first time yesterday. Sitting in the back seat, which we had not done, she says both times she smelled something burning whenever we hit larger bumps.

I have mixed feelings about her sense of smell, but be that as it may, does anyone have any idea what possibly could be causing a burning smell under these circumstances?
