Steering 850 1993

Is there any way of telling when the steering rack may be on its way out. I've noticed the sterring wheel is getting alot harder to turn and was wondering if this was a sign of failure. There is plenty of fluid and no leaks. Also the ball joints and tie rods were just replaced about 5k ago. Thanks.
