My check engine light came on about a month ago. I got 1-2-1 ( MAF Sensor ) and on the advise of Sin pulled the sensor ( did unplug battery first ) and cleaned the connections with brake fluid then used a little dialectic grease.
Well, it came back. So I bought the new sensor for $200 and replaced it. Once again I unplugged the battery before doing this. Almost immediately after replacing with new one I hear a faint ticking ( alot like the sound of some type of exhaust leak ) only after accelerating from about 2000rpm and up. Now, I can't even reset the check engine light. When I first started checking this I could reset the light ( of course ignition was on position II when doing this ) but now the light wont be reset.
Any ideas. I removed the sensor and put it back again but still the noise and still can't reset the light.
I really dont want to take this to the dealer. I know I'll end up paying alot more than what I already have.
Any ideas of tips would be greatly appreciated.
This is on a 93 850 that has been serviced by the dealer religiously, 110k on car.
Thanks,
Syd
