High revs on cold starts 850 1996

Greetings. Our '96 850 has been over reving for some time on cold starts. We handled it by cranking it briefly 3 times so it couldn't find a firing solution. Then on 4th crank, let it start. This would start engine with revs at a good low idle. Just lately, the engine is starting at an even higher rev than before irregardless of pre start cranking. Looking for an answer, she's got
400,000 plus k and the bearings are begining to rattle on starts. Thanks in advance. 740T/850T Wgns
