O.E. tires? 850 1995

I need to purchase a new set of four tires for my 850 GLT. I will make the assumption that the car originally came with Michelin's but I am not sure.

Anyway, I would like to put Michelin's on it anyway but wondered if anyone has an opinion on the latest tires out there? (ex. Michelin X-One, Pilot or Energy MXV4). They all seem to have only 1 ply polyester sidewall which does not seem like much. Any experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!
