It looks like that we will get a "new" 2.5L LPT 5-cyl. engine good for 210bhp (a reworked version of the current 2.4L LPT) and the 2.9L twin turbo 6-cyl. rated at 272bhp. Personally, I think it is a mistake to put the LPT engine in the XC90 but, I guess, I am not in charge of the project!
On the other hand, we will get a FWD version, afterall; that model will primarily be for the Southern and SWestern part of the country. At Volvo, they estimate that 65% of the XC90 sales will be AWD models.
Initial planned production (until 12/31/02) will only be, approximately, 6,000 units for the US.
