Alarm Remote 850 95

This problem occured with my 3rd volvo: a '95 855

Recently I replaced the battery in the car and the alarm/locking does not operate the same anymore. I don't know how to properly operate the remote alarm/locking.

It has a one-button alarm/locking remote with "Volvo" printed on front, 3 sets of numbers, the words "Godk. av Televerket", and a logo for a company woith the letters "rcd" and "NL" printed on back. There is a black triangular box on the car's A-pillar which has two red LED lights visible from outside the car, a black button and three smaller red lights labeled I, II, III (mode lights?) visible from inside the car. It does not have a red LED light on the top-center-front of dashboard.

The manual for my car has no inclusion of this information, only information for a two-button remote with red LED on dash. I am the second owner and this car was delivered new in Europe, has only km on speedometer and odometer/trip-OD, original owner's manual is in Norweigian, but it also covers a two button remote.

- I do not know how to get it to change alarm modes

- Pressing button on remote turns alarm LED lights on and off but does not lock/unlock the doors any longer

- Putting key into driver or passenger door still operates all locks correctly, with the exception of it not locking the tailgate

- Putting key into tailgate operates all door locks correctly

Thanks for any help
