Removal of navigation unit from rear well V70-XC70

I am in need of pulling my navigation unit and cleaning and possibly either sending for repair or replacement. The unit is located in the drivers side well at the rear of my v70. Removing the face cover was easy. My question is, removal of the unit should be easy but it appears I cant access the securing screws without removing the carpeted inside well on the drivers side rear of my v70. Removal of this panel does not appear intuitive. Anyone have any better tricks to removing the unit (accessing the screws that secure the unit from each side to a bracket) or pulling the inside well covering? thank you!
