Too much coolant pressure! 850 1994

The coolant pressure on my '94 850 wagon(N/A) w/ 102k mi. has forced me to replace the radiator after noticing coolant leakage. The leak is now gone but the pressure still builds up to the point where some coolant exits the expansion tank. I'm afraid that something else will go from all the pressure. I got the car in July and didn't notice the problem then until recently. Keep in mind that I replaced the thermostat because it took a long time to warm up about a month after I got it.

My mom has a '94 960 w/ 154k mi. with a similar engine (minus 1 cylinder) and there is never a pressure build up.

I'm starting to think that I might have to replace the water pump, considering that to replace the pump involves replacing the timing belt, I'm looking for other easier ideas to try. Any help would be appreciated.
