I had a suspension question that I was hoping someone might have some insight on. I have a 94 850 Turbo and the right front strut/spring is making a strange sound when I go over bumps. It’s really hard to describe, but here goes: It sounds like a rubbing to clicking sound whenever I go over uneven roads, it’s not as noticeable on quick big bumps, but very noticeable on uneven roads where the suspension is absorbing a lot of small bumps in the road. The dealer said the shock mount was bad and replaced it (I think it was called that, the rubber black round piece that you can see when you open the hood.) and that didn’t make any difference, it almost seems worse now. Does anyone have any other ideas what could be causing this noise? I don’t want it to get worse or lead to other problems later.

Also I had a transmission question that I wanted to throw out there for advice. When I’m on the highway cruising along the transmission will sometimes shift harshly out of one gear and into another and back again. It’s pretty rough, from inside the car it feels like the transmission is slipping (gives a stuttering feeling). It’s very rare that it will happen while accelerating but it happens at least 8 times in a 26-mile constant highway cruise. It’s been doing this for a while and every time I take it to the dealer they say there are no fault codes and the car road tests fine. I was wondering if anyone knew what I could point out to the dealer that they could look at to determine what’s causing the “slippage”?

Lastly this is in response to the tire question I asked earlier: Thanks everyone for their advice on tires, I decided to get the Bridgestone Potenza RE730. I haven’t purchased them yet so if anyone has experience with the tire and thinks it’s a bad tire, drop me a line, thanks.
