850 window brake light 850

The "light out" message appears on the instrument panel. The rear window brake light does not light up. Removed cover, removed bulb, cleaned, checked bulb with ohm meter, replaced good bulb. Brake light comes on, message light goes off on dash. After about 10 brake use times of putting brake on- message light comes on- brake light does not work.

Under the dash , under the glove box area towards the center of the car near or next to heater dials. There is a clicking noise when I put the brake pedal on. Is there a "Brake relay" back there somewhere? Could it be the relays next to the tail lights? or the "main" relay in the relay box next to the fuses-Fuse checks ok-JMM
