Is there any way to remove water spots from the glass and from the mirrors?

I would assume the glass surfaces can be polished with something (what?), but the outsude mirrors are plastic and can probably be damaged. These water spots are very hard to remove, I had them on my previous cars, but I never had such a great pool of wisdom as in this group.

This is unrelated to my question:

Thanks to this group's help I already replaced all 4 brake rotors + all pads and the timing belt - all at the cost of the parts (and hard work). I actually wanted to change the timing belt at the dealer, but they were "overbooked" and could make an appointed only in a couple of weeks.
