A couple of years ago, I had the after-market ABS module installed on my 99 V70. It went off without a hitch. Recently, I noticed my brakes were making a grinding noise as I came to nearly a stop. I had front pads and rotors replaced a few months ago. Rear brakes were done about 1.5 years ago. I took it to my mechanic, a Volvo only shop, who does all my work, installed the ABS module for me, etc.
He diagnosed "uneven brake caliper pressure" and said he had seen this before when an ABS system was going haywire. However, it wasn't something that was going on when he looked at the vehicle. He mentioned something about intermittent pressure on the brakes at speed. I'm not a mechanic and didn't write down exactly what he said.
In any event, he replaced the rear brake pads and rotors at no charge, "warranty." No futher action at this point.
Anyone ever heard of anything like this???????????
