Reverse Radar - Feasiblity of installation? V70-XC70 2000

Reverse radar is available as an option on the 2001 XC. My dealer's master mechanic has advised me that he can install it on my 2000 XC.

Does any have expereince with this? Is there any down side of the installation such as compromise of the rust proofing or other matters?
