Gas mileage and tank capacity S40-V40 2000

I was wondering among 2000 S40 owners on the average how many gallons do you get when you go to fill up your tank... I on the average at most i've ever gotten on my tank is 12-13 gallons. But if i'm not mistaken my tank has 16 gallons correct? I realize that some of the space is being used for exansion buy 3 gallons worth of room is a little rediculous.
