Fan blows while car's off. S60 2001

I know my s60 has a fan under the hood that runs after the car's turned off, but sometimes when I get back into my car after a quick run into the store the vents are blowing full speed in my face - before I've started the engine again. Is this because of that fan? If not, what else could cause it?
