I had the PVC system cleaned/replaced on my 1995 850 my kids use. The car has 160,000 miles and after the (expensive) PVC system cleaning/repair the sound went away for about a week. The car now ticks at startup and the sound goes away 2-3 minutes after start up. I'm trying to be careful and make sure nothing was missed. The dealer did the PVC system (did I saw expensive:) and they have been good with getting fixes done right the first time. Is there another area that should be looked at that dealers don't do when the PVC system is cleaned/replaced? I have seen some pics on the web of the oil pump in the pan that looked completely cooked with thick oil. Do the dealers drop and clean the pan when the PVC system is done?
The car has no other know issues and has been reliable for 160,000 miles so I want to make sure I am proactive on the issue. Thanks!
