1995 850 showing fault code 4-1-4 from the climate control. Haynes says this is "Driver's side interior temperature sensor inlet fan seized".
The manual shows how to remove the sensor (behind the driver's grab handle above the door, take off some trim to get to it) but doesn't mention if that is where the _fan_ is. Couple questions:
- is the fan in the same place as the sensor?
- will the interior parts go back together if I take out the sensor/fan and see what the problem is?
- hopefully it's a dirty contact or something like that. If it turns out the fan/sensor is shot any idea what the replacement cost is?
I guess my bottom line is: is it worth digging in to fix this? The climate controls seem to work. My biggest worry is that the trim won't go back like it was. I don't like the flashing climate control lights on the dash but it's better than say having the headliner falling off.
