1999 s70 door ajar switch

have an annoying problem -my 1999 s70 driver side door ajar switch is malfunctioning - the interior lights stay on after locking and the bong-bong-bong stays on while driving...I removed the #15 10 amp fuse for the interior lights and of course still have the bong-bong...

2 questions...what is the fix? It looks like my haynes manual suggests it is a complicated fix involving the electric door lock - best suited for the dealer???? have any of you fixed this yourself? (I have some repair skills)

and, any problems for a temp fix for the bong-bong by simply removing the #29 fuse (which seems to also control the shiftlock (is this critical?), heated rear window, and cruise control, and bulb out sensor (anything else important?)
