Blower motor 850 94

I live in Michigan and have seen nothing but snow for the past 3 days. Wouldn't mind normally if were not for the fact that I'm not getting any forced air through my vents.

If I adjust the temperature settings, I can feel the change....I think this is good news. My problem is when I adjust the fan speed there is no change. I've checked fuses under the hood and they appeared to be okay.

I thought I'd try as much as I could before I need to take the car in to get serviced. I saw the steps to get at the blower motor in Bay 13, and it was definitely within my mechanical ability.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem, had to or replaced a blower motor, and or what else should I be looking into before getting the car serviced by a mechanic?
