Turbo+Intercooler+effenicy+AudiA4 S40-V40 2000

I have a few questions for the people that live and breath this stuff. I was reading an article on a Chipped A4 1.8t, keep in mind they didn't mention any exhaust upgrades nor if they had any on it, but this was there second article on it, the third is suspension, rims, and turbo upgrade.

Here is my question, does the Audi A4 have the same Turbo & Intercooler as the Volvo S40/V40? KK03 or something.

They compared two chips the ARS & Garret chips, both produced around 30hp more at the wheels. The Garret was a tad better threw the 2500-5000, about 5-10hp while the ARS did about 8hp better at 6000rpms. I would get the Garret, but they did mention that the ARS produces faster real road times from 10-60 and 10-80 times .007 and .0176 or something, going off memory here :(.

What I am trying to do is get and idea of what I am going to get into If I chip my S40. Good news is that the A4 did get a 30hp increase in power, a 1.7sec cut from 10-60mph and about 2seconds off 10-80mphs. Seems good, but I think it has 150hp? Then plus 30hp would make it 180hp? It did make somewhere around 114hp at the wheels, I think they did mention it was 4wheel drive which causes more power loss. I thought most chips rate the 1.8t 40+hp or somewhere around 195hp for the Audi, not 180hp. Now the bad news was, they did see the boost raise to a Super High 17.5psi! WOW not good! I wouldn't want that to happened on my S40! I am not sure if they programmed it to do that for max boost or what! I would of hoped 17.5psi would of made more than an extra 30hp. I know the Garret for the Volvo goes up to 14.7psi and that it! Good! that all the boost that turbo can work at. Maybe this is why the Audi was producing too much turbo heat, some detonation, and some lurches on WOT. From what they said, at one point the intercooler was only cooling 50% and causing only a 8hp difference from stock at 6000rpm. ACK. They also said, they saw signs of pinging on the dyno for the garret but not on hard driving on the street or track, but for ARS it was bad on both the dyno and street. From what they said, he would keep the stock chip and that the current turbo was too small. Next issue will be a bigger turbo for the A4.

From what I hear the Volvo X40 Intercooler does a great job of cooling the air, I don't know if it's bigger than the A4's or just has better access to air? Volvo's front seems to let more air in than the Audi's. I hope the better intercooler, less boost, IPD exhaust, K&N filter can keep it from pining. What do you think? I hope to get around 165stock+5hp exhaust+2hp filter+35hp chip=207hp safely or a high estament of 212hp. 0-60 maybe 6+ 1/4mile 14's? Is ECU upgrading too risky? Is stock form optimal for the small turbo? Is getting a bigger Turbo the only way to get better power and effency? Or am I just looking for problems? Has anyone done bussiness with Coyote Motor Sport? Or is it just a scam, take sam's webpage and say you sell car products? IPD: never going to get there ECU upgrade right.

PES: Say still under development on there page, but say's you can get one?

How much does a ECU cost if it gets lost in the mail? Or damaged by PES or something, Do I end up with a 20k+ shell of a car? Or 2k more in debt? :)

Does anyone know what bolt pattern the S40 has? I know it has four studs. Not guys. ekk.

News"

"BSR in sweden did test the old V40 2,0T and found out that it had 167hp instead of 160hp who Volvo is telling us. It depend on how the messurement are done. I think volvo has the same engine in fasII but have just change the figures in the technical documentation.

Hope you can understand, or not to long :)
