Brake Pedal Clicks? 850 1995

I know Volvo cars have some quirks, so I want to check on this one: when I tap the brake pedal slightly (even before I actually apply any force) I hear a click, like a valve or plastic switch - something quite clean, as if it is supposed to be there. Any similar experienece?

Also, while on this topic - is free movement of the brake pedal ajustable on the 850?
