Brake Fluid-DOT 4 & DOT 4+ 850 1993

Is there a difference between DOT 4 and DOT 4+ brake fluids? Volvo's pocket data booklet and Owner's manual calls for DOT 4+ and I purchased a litre of ATE DOT 4.
