fuel guage on 98xc not working V70-XC70

1998 171,000 miles. fuel guage does not read any fuel. checked out the chiltons manual from library, diagrams and info left a lot to be desired. Can anyony tell me wire colors and which plug back under floor I should check to see if this is a guage issue or sending unit issue? car runs good, occasionally get a code for running too rich, but other than that no real issues and all other guages seem to work fine. Thanks
