Need to get the front right CV boot and tie rod changed out as per a mechanic's recommendation about a month or so ago. He called it a "yellow light" issue (as opposed to an immediate red-light issue), and so I am hoping to save hundreds by doing this myself at home this weekend.
We just moved to a pretty rural area in California, so I just have a Napa nearby, but I can get to a larger city if it would be better for getting the parts. Or just have them sent to me.
Here's what I would like to know:
1) Where should I get the parts from?
2) When I replace one boot, should I be replacing boots on both sides?
3) What extra tools will I need?
4) Anything else I should check while I'm under the hood for these issues?
*FWIW, I do have a Haynes guide at home, and most of a weekend to burn on this. Which I may need since I am a virgin at most types of car repair.
Thanks in advance ...
