Tranny Thump/Creaking & Groaning Front V70-XC70 99

Checked the archives and didn't see anything...

We have a 99 XC with 20K miles and since new we have had the "thumping tranny"......the one where when you lift off on the gas and sometimes it feels like the tranny is being whacked by a 2x4. Is there a Tech Services Bulletin (or something similar) that I can direct my dealer to for resolution. I mentioned the problem last time the vehicle was in and they said "they'd check it out". I was hoping they would say "yes, that happens, we know what the problem is and we have fix for it". Get my drift?

Also, I'm experiencing a "groaning" from the front right side of the car at low speeds (when straight and turning). Sounds like a old wooden ship in heavy seas or like a tree creaking in high winds. It doesn't do it all the time but when it does it drives my wife nuts. She hates it so much she has threatened to trade the XC for a 325 Wagon (gasp). Have you heard of this problem? Again, is there a TSB on this?
