Help strange noise. Maybe oil pump? S70 1998

Bought a 98 S70 T5 with blown engine. Bought an engine at junkyard and installed. Started up ran great, but about 3 seconds after it starts, a loud whine starts. I thought it was the power steering pump. Sound like one low on fluid or pump going bad. Loud whine.

Engine ran smooth, no lifter noise and looked like good oil flow to the head. If I reved up the engine above 3000, noise went away. Drove the car, ran great. Getting back to the garage, noise was now much quieter. Drove the car a few times and each time the noise was there for the first few minutes and then would get much quieter. Ordered a rebuilt power steering pump.

I have about 90 miles on the car. Oil light came on about 1/4 mile from the house. Got home and it went out. Checked the level and still full. Started the car and no light. Drove the car again, easy, and the oil light came on and off, but not any pattern. Seemed like loose wire. Did not come and go with RPM increase and decrease.

Power steering pump arrived. pulled the belt and started the car. Made the exact same noise without power steering pump turning. Now lifter noise started while idling in the driveway. Whine noise is very difficult to tell where it is coming. I used rubber hose and tried to listen all over the engine. Seem like it is coming from the back side of the engine on the right side. #1 cyl, back side. Lifter noise seems like it is from the exhaust came. Intake cam has lots of oil, but can't see the exhaust. Where is the oil pump?

I have a warranty on the engine, but put in new timing componets, rear main seal, turbo seals ect... Ran a compression check and all cyliders are 155 to 160 psi! Very good. Junk yard will work with me on money back for some repair or exchange, just have to figure out what. Seems like a really good engine and got a really good deal on it, so I hate to pull it and start over.

My suspect is oil pump/relief valve. I pulled the oil pressure sender wire and to see it the light would come on, but didn't. Should the dash light come on with it disconnected? Want to measure oil pressure. Only way I have found is to make a fitting to install into the sender port. Any other place I can install a gage?

How does the oil flow to the head? If seperate passage to the exhaust and intake cams, maybe one it plugged and noise I here is the oil pump relief valve (I assume it has one).

Appreciate all the great input and thank in advance!!!!
