leaky radiator 850 1994

After seeing a few drops of radiator fluid on the garage floor,I took it

in to my independent Volvo mechanic who says the radiator is made of

plastic, can't be repaired, & needs to be replaced for an estimated $650.

The car has 63K miles. I'm taking it to a dealer this Thurs--sounds

like they're cheaper(about $450)--for a second opinion. I'm shocked

that Volvo would use plastic--seems cheap. Is there an alternative?

I've never had radiator problems with any car I've owned(including 3-240s).
