Noisy Engine S70 1999

I just purchased a S70 GLT and find the engine quite noisy compared with my 1995 850; It also makes a bit of a loud "thump" sound on the passenger side of the engine compartment as I shut off the car.

Is this normal for turbo cars (my 850 is not a turbo) or is there something wrong with my car?
