Just a short note on this topic:
I sent a mail to Wetterauer chiptuning about possible
problems concerning the increased power and the exhaust
system / catalytic converter.
A technician responded within 20 minutes!
(Not bad, I sent several mails to Volvo in the last two years,
did not get !any! respond yet)
Ever since they do chiptuning (including Volvos),
they never had any problems with overheating catalytic converters
or specifically related to the exhaust system,
nor do they know about such a case.
Unless you are excessively driving at very high speed
(or better high revs) i.e. with high turbo boost and high airflow
(higher than without tuning), you do not need a different
exhaust system. Under normal conditions (which includes high speed driving on German Autobahns), the diameter of the standard exhaust
is not causing any problems.
Well, that is enough for me, I can live with that and the
decent looking standard exhaust.
