Volvo 850 T-5 Appreciation 850 1997

I write this message because until this year I never appreciated the true handling and performance of my Volvo 850 T-5. Limited to 65 - 70 mph on US Interstates I always felt the 850 I drove was never quite in its element. Earlier this year, when I moved to Germany and brought my turbo brick with me, the T-5 wagon's true character came out. This family grocery-getter is more rock-solid at 115 mph than it ever was at 65! I enjoy this car more now than I ever could have in the states. It is not easy to put the thrill of smoothly and effortlessly accelerating from 100 mph to 135 mph into words. All devoted Volvo enthusiasts and fans owe it themselves to come to the Autobahns of Europe and learn to appreciate the exceptional performance of a Volvo. I don't look forward to moving back to the states and not being able to drive my car in the manner intended. Also, I have read several messages on V-rated vs H-rated tires...I swapped the hard-riding, back-jarring Michelin MXV 205-55-16s for a set of V-rated Fulda Carat Extremos in the same size...the difference in comfort and handling is remarkable. The car feels as if it is stuck to the ground in corners and never drifts at high speed. I do not recommend putting anything other than the best possible tires on these performance automobiles. A penny saved on tires is not worth the cost in comfort, safety and performance.
