power window woes!?!?! V70-XC70 1998

1998 V70, high miles.....time to replace the power window "pod" on the driver's door- as it has been flighty for awhile.
Snow and rain as of late have had soen affect upon too, I think??!! When I drove it Wednesday, nothing on it would work for me, but in frustration in the cold whacking it- BAM! Now this mornng my wife said she could not even get it to lock when driving thru a rough area en route to work, hhmmm? Is this related to the "pod" or some other elctrical component in the door???

How do I this swap? What tools should be handy? Grease or lubricant?
Can the other door swithches be fixed of sorts, I recall fixing some on an 1995 850 wagon, a pre-Ford if you will.....
